Evita is an entirely sung musical that was written by Tim Rice (booklet and lyrics) and Andrew Lloyd Webber (music). This is the fourth show by this world-famous duo to which we owe in particular the successful musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar.
With Evita, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber chose to take an interest in a politician: Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine President Juan Perón. The musical tells of the charitable commitments and controversies that have marked the life of the one who was nicknamed Evita. A dynamic and emotional show!

Evita is a cult musical that was created in London in 1978 before being exported the following year to Broadway where she won no less than seven Tony Awards including those for best libretto, best score and best musical. The success was such that a musical-based film was born in 1996 with Madonna and Antonio Banderas in the title roles.
This new production is the second revival of the play on Broadway. It was directed by Jamie Lloyd, who has already recently directed another Andrew Lloyd Webber hit: Sunset Boulevard. It is Rachel Zegler (Maria in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story) who will reprise the role of Eva Perón, a role she has already played in London and which allowed her to win the Olivier Award for Best Actress in 2026.
