Discover the iconic Broadway musical Chicago! The plot is based on a play by Maurine Dallas Watkins from 1926, which was inspired by an incident in Chicago in 1924.
Set in the 1920s, the story follows Roxie Hart, a woman who has killed her lover, as she meets Velma Kelly, a cabaret star and her idol, in prison. Facing the death penalty, the two women wage a merciless war against each other through the tabloid press. Their goal is to convince the famous lawyer Billy Flynn to represent them.

The musical Chicago premiered at New York's 46th Street Theatre in 1975. John Kander (Cabaret) composed the music and Bob Fosse created the famous choreography.
In 1996, the show was revamped. This staging is still performed on Broadway today and was the inspiration for the 2002 film adaptation starring Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere.
At the 1997 Tony Awards, the new production of Chicago was nominated in eight categories and won six Tony Awards, including Best Revival, Best Choreography, Best Costume Design and Best Lighting Design.
The musical was so successful that it was exported to Australia, Japan, Peru and France, among other countries. The movie adaptation won the prestigious Oscars for Best Picture and Best Musical.
