What's The Outsiders about?
The musical The Outsiders is based on the 1983 Francis Ford Coppola film of the same name, which starred Tom Cruise and Patrick Swayze. The film was based on the 1967 S. E. Hinton novel of the same name.
The musical recounts the conflict between two rival gangs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the 1960s. The clashes between these two groups, divided by their social status (the underprivileged "Greasers" and the middle-class "Socs"), are portrayed through the eyes of a 14-year-old: Ponyboy Curtis.
