Often considered the eighth instalment in the Harry Potter series, the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is based on an original story by J.K. Rowling.
The play opens nineteen years after the final battle between Harry Potter and Voldemort, as described in the epilogue to Deathly Hallows. Now aged 37, Harry works at the Ministry of Magic. He accompanies his second son, Albus, to Platform 9¾ for his first day at Hogwarts. Harry and Albus have fallen out, and Albus's friendship with Scorpius Malfoy, the son of Draco Malfoy, doesn't help matters.
After Albus finds out that the Ministry of Magic has taken over a time-reversal device, he wants to go back to 1995, at the end of the Triwizard Tournament, to save Cedric Diggory. However, the pair soon discover that time travel is not without consequences.
