What's Gypsy about?

The classic musical Gypsy is based on the 1957 memoirs of burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee.

The show primarily focuses on her mother, Rose, who spent her life trying to turn her two daughters, June and Lee, into music hall stars. Gypsy is also a poignant tribute to the often challenging lives of cabaret performers.
